Year 12 Relay effort nearing $100,000

Year 12's Relay efforts nearing $100,000

Congratulations to the Class of 2025 who have raised over $97,000 in the Relay for Life, surpassing their original goal of $80,000 and setting a new College record in the process.

Funds are still able to be donated, with the current total placing 91福利社 as Canberra鈥檚 top fundraising school and the highest team in the whole of Australia, and potentially on their way to reaching $100,000.

In addition to the cohorts collective accomplishment, there were several individual success stories. Year 12 Students Maisie Roff and Nicholas Dei Rocini both raised over $2500. Year 12 also had 10 different students who managed to raise over $1,000, which was a fantastic achievement.

With the students doing an amazing job of rallying others to the cause, Cancer Council Australia Board Director, Roger Buckley spoke to Year 12 and made the point thanking every indivudual student and emphasied that every dollar raised has an impact.

The event itself saw Year 12 participate in the 鈥楻elay Your Way鈥 version of the fundraiser, with the whole cohort gathering at the St Peter鈥檚 Campus on Saturday 29 March between 7am and 7pm. Although the weather was not ideal, the rain coulnd't dampen spirits with students facing the challenge head-on, as they walked, jogged, skipped and danced their way around a custom track. The rain didn't stop, and neither did Year 12.

The event also included the sharing of personal stories and experiences, student dance and music performances, a donated breakfast from the canteen staff, a baked goods sale, multiple themed laps (such as a bubble walk and conga line), and a candlelight ceremony in the evening.

The College would like to thank everyone who made this achievement possible, including those who donated, the staff at Cancer Council ACT, teachers who supervised, and, of course, the students of Year 12.

Donatations are still open until Sunday 6 April.
